What is a birth doula?A birth doula is a person who supports an expecting family from pregnancy to labor & delivery. (Ex. Provide information regarding birth procedures/interventions, positions for less painful birth, massage and other comfort measures)
what is a postpartum doula?A postpartum doula is a person who supports new parents with their transition into parenthood and assists Mom in birth recovery. (Ex. Assist with mom recovery/caregiving, childcare, meals and more).

What is Omugwo?
[Sonya Oguzor, the owner and founder of Spa Oguzor, married into the Igbo tribe and has immersed herself in their postpartum culture.] In the Igbo tribe, they practice a postpartum tradition called omugwo. This is where new moms and babies are taken care of for 3 months. At Spa Oguzor, your Omugwo can last between 2 weeks and 1 month. This will include hot traditional meals (for nourishment), hot fundus massages (to reduce belly), child care for you and your partner to nap, licensed therapeutic massages and more!
What is Postpartum massage therapy?
Postpartum massage is massage therapy done to help the new mother heal especially within the first 6 weeks postpartum. Every thing from the type of oil, pressure and location of the massage is catered to the new mom. Postpartum massage therapy is recommended as soon as possible as to assist in proper healing. 1-6 weeks postpartum is when 85-90% of healing happens. The first 3 weeks postpartum new moms should receive a massage three times a week. After 3 weeks postpartum Moms should have a massage once a week for 3 weeks.

Omumu Package (Omumu means birth in Igbo)
$1000 Birth only This support style is for birth only. It starts during pregnancy and ends one hour postpartum (after birth). If you choose this package then you should expect to interact with the doula during your pregnancy and while in labor until birth. Ura Package (Ura means sleep/nap in Igbo) $2,400 Birth & Postpartum This support style is both for pregnancy, labor and postpartum. This service starts while pregnant and ends 2 weeks postpartum. Your doula will visit you daily. Herbs will be supplied for optimal healing as well as instruction on mom and newborn care for Dad. Nourishing meals will be prepared if you like. Omugwo Package (After Birth/Postpartum Care) $6,150 postpartum 1.5 months This is a traditional Igbo postpartum service provided to women and babies. This service involves instruction as well as meals, herbal baths, daily massages and more. This does not cover the birth or pregnancy guidance.
